Altoona police say a woman has been arrested and a 7-year-old child was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh following a DUI-related crash Saturday evening.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash along the 3000 block of Beale Ave., just after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the driver of a silver Nissan Altima, later identified as 36-year-old Jennifer Lansberry, had crashed into a telephone pole, with two 7-year-old girls in the vehicle.
Investigators say one of the juveniles was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injury.
She was transported to UPMC Altoona before being flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, as police say she suffered severe to life-threatening injuries.
Police note that the other child only sustained a minor injury in the crash.
Authorities charged Lansberry with two counts of aggravated assault by DUI, two counts of child endangerment and DUI of both alcohol and drugs, the post states.
Lansberry is currently being housed at the Blair County Prison, court dockets show, and her bail has been set at $40,000.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 28.
