A Very Special Birthday

It’s always a special date when a baby is welcomed into the world, but for one local family, the birth of their first boy also marked a once-in-a-lifetime date.

Matthew and Kristanna Walker welcomed their first baby boy Tuesday which just so happens to be a worldwide palindrome.

Baby Vaughn was welcomed into the world at 2:22 a.m. on 2/22/2022 in room two at UPMC Magee-Womens at UPMC Altoona.

The date is extra special because it falls on a Tuesday, or “Twos-day”, and is a palindrome across the world regardless how the date is written.

So how rare is baby Vaughn’s birthday?

According to the National Weather Service, a “Twos-day” is so rare it won’t happen again for another 400 years in 2422.

The Walkers said the delivery happened quickly and Vaughn made his “grand entrance in short order as a perfect palindrome baby.”

He’s the first boy of the Walker family and will soon join his four sisters at home in Gallitzin.
