Experts Urge a Flu Shot This Year

With so many flu symptoms similar to COVID-19 officials are urging anyone who is able to get a flu shot.

They say getting the flu shot is the best way to prevent respiratory illness.

Officials say the flu and COVID-19 have similar symptoms including fever, sore throat, headache, cough and body aches.

Their similarities a main reason why the department of health says that a test will likely be needed in order to make a clear diagnosis whether a patient has COVID-19 or the flu.

Doctors say a patient could be diagnosed with both the flu and COVID-19 but it’s uncharted territory.

“It is possible to get COVID-19 and influenza at the same time. But so far there is not a lot known about these coinfections and if coinfections will increase the severity of either disease.”

Most primary care providers, pharmacies and some grocery stores are now offering flu shots. Check locations in your area to find out what you need to do in order to be protected from the flu.
