Window Restoration Workshop

Title:Window Restoration Workshop
Description:The Old House Fair on the Road will kick off at the Centre Furnace Mansion on June 8 with a day-long, hands-on workshop by Kenneth Nuttle who has been a professional woodworker for over thirty years. He owns and operates Kenneth Nuttle Historic Preservation in Williamsport. Kenneth worked for Colonial Williamsburg as a historic cabinetmaker and joiner and also served as Professor of Preservation Carpentry at the American College of the Building Arts in Charleston, South Carolina. Among his many projects are the restoration of the Old Senate Chamber at the Maryland State House, window restoration at the Hampton Plantation in McClellanville, South Carolina and the reproduction of doors and windows for the George Wythe House in Williamsburg, Virginia. Kenneth will demonstrate, from start to finish, how to approach window restoration from removal of the window itself, removal of paint and putty with steam, how to remove the glass from old sashes, clean them up and make necessary repairs and finally reassemble and reinstall them to create a renewed original window that will stand the test of time. The workshop is $50.00 per person. Registration is required.

Description:South Hills School of Business & Technology announces the second event of the 2019 Music Picnic Series. On Sunday, June 9th, Free entertainments will begin at 6pm on the north lown with the "Callanish." Spend the evening enjoying lively jigs and reels, haunting airs, and rollicking songs from the British Isles. These free, outdoor concerts are held rain or shine at South Hills' Main Campus, located at 480 Waupelani Drive, State College. Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic supper. Description:St. Vincent DePaul Food for Families will hold its first Annual Feed the Need Food Truck Rodeo on Sunday, June 16, 2019 from noon to 4:00 PM at Peoples Natural Gas Park, Johns Street, Johnstown, PA. Food will be provided by Grumbling Gypsy, First Scoop to Go, Caribbean Grill, Salvatore's Pizza, Schraff’s Mobile Kitchen, Shuman’s Concessions II, Press Bistro Craft Kitchen and Primanti Bros. Our Emcee for the event is DJ - JR McAfee. Musical Entertainment provided by Lux & Company and Kevin Dale Band. In addition to our food vendor, we will have beverages provided by Von's United Beverage Co., Stone Bridge Brewing Company, Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery, and Disobedient Spirits LLC, and a variety of crafters and other vendors on hand including Color My World Entertainment, LLC (selfie booth), Face Painting Factory, Dandelion Artisan Boutique, Tracie's Treasure Chest, Renewal by Andersen of Central Pennsylvania, H&R Block, Integrity Construction, Cricket Wireless, Sugaree Style Boutique Organized in 1982, a non-profit organization, Food for Families, Inc. supplies food that stock the shelves of area food pantries and other congregate meal sites throughout Cambria County. Food for Families stocks its warehouse with supplies from purchases made through the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, donations from community retailers, Feeding America, community drives and private donations. Each month over 2,000 households (5,000 -7,000 individuals) receive more than 68,000 pounds of food through the food panty system. Proceeds will benefit the Food for Families Cooler/Freezer Project. Admission is $5 and provides a chance to win a Father’s Day prize package. Description:Join the Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop (CPDW) as they present a children's matinee adventure during the 2nd Annual Central PA Theatre and Dance Festival. First at the State Theatre, see CPDW's Children's Ensemble perform a dance double-header of an original performance of Saint-Saëns’ beloved Carnival of the Animals, featuring poetry by local young artists, as well as local composer and Penn State Emeritus composer Bruce Trinkley's Dinosaurs' Dance which will be accompanied by the Delta Middle School choir. Follow the performance with a themed picnic lunch prepared by Webster's Cafe in the MLK Plaza. Finally, join the performers at CPDW's studio for a Character Workshop and learn dances inspired by the Carnival of the Animals characters. The Backpack Program Race on June 22 and the Rotary Community Projects Race on July 20. The races will be 5k, 10k, and one-half marathon. Both races will be held at the Rockwood Trail Head on the Great Allegheny Passage going towards Garrett. If needed, please visit our FaceBook page for a map of the starting location of the races.
