Chronic Pain Management Symposium
Dates:Thursday, March 28, 2019
Title:Chronic Pain Management Symposium
Description:While we are making some progress in the recent years, the opioid epidemic continues to show staggering statistics every day across the country. We battle every day to help patients with their pain, while doing our best to keep them safe. Our goal is always to focus on evidence based new therapies, but this is not always the solution for some patients. Because of the varying needs of our patients and the goal to keep the community safe while treating chronic pain, we feel that a comprehensive and integrated pain program is the future of treatment for this condition. This cannot be achieved by one practice alone. This must be achieved through education and networking of all health care professionals involved in the care of pain patients in our communities. It is with this in mind that we are planning the first Chronic Pain Management Symposium focused on bringing health care professionals from our community together to discuss the many pathways to achieve pain control for the people of our communities. We hope that you will consider joining us on March 28th, 2019 at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown’s Living and Learning Center from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. It is with the support of all health care professionals who care for the patients suffering from chronic pain that we will do our part in reducing the impact of the crisis we are facing.

Dreamers` Circus
Dates:Wednesday, April 03, 2019
Title:Dreamers` Circus
Description:Last season, a Schwab Auditorium crowd responded enthusiastically to the Danish String Quartet’s performance of classical music. But audience members got especially excited when violinist Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen led the foursome in arrangements of half a dozen Nordic folk tunes. Sørensen returns to Schwab this season with Dreamers’ Circus, a trio that draws inspiration from the traditions of Nordic folk songs and reshapes them into something bright, shiny, and new. In 2009, Sørensen and Ale Carr, who plays the Nordic cittern, were in a Copenhagen, Denmark, pub jamming together on some folk tunes. In came Nikolaj Busk, who sat down at the piano and began playing along. The three wound up performing together all night, and Dreamers’ Circus was born. The musicians display inventiveness in their approach to music from Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland plus the far reaches of Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The ensemble, which makes its North American debut on this tour, has won five Danish Folk Music Awards and has toured across Europe, Japan, and Australia. The players, two Danes and a Swede, view their roots as a point of departure, not a straightjacket. This adventurous attitude, coupled with outstanding musicianship, has brought the trio to the forefront of the Nordic folk and world music scenes.
