Window Restoration Workshop
Dates:Saturday, June 08, 2019
Title:Window Restoration Workshop
Description:The Old House Fair on the Road will kick off at the Centre Furnace Mansion on June 8 with a day-long, hands-on workshop by Kenneth Nuttle who has been a professional woodworker for over thirty years. He owns and operates Kenneth Nuttle Historic Preservation in Williamsport. Kenneth worked for Colonial Williamsburg as a historic cabinetmaker and joiner and also served as Professor of Preservation Carpentry at the American College of the Building Arts in Charleston, South Carolina. Among his many projects are the restoration of the Old Senate Chamber at the Maryland State House, window restoration at the Hampton Plantation in McClellanville, South Carolina and the reproduction of doors and windows for the George Wythe House in Williamsburg, Virginia. Kenneth will demonstrate, from start to finish, how to approach window restoration from removal of the window itself, removal of paint and putty with steam, how to remove the glass from old sashes, clean them up and make necessary repairs and finally reassemble and reinstall them to create a renewed original window that will stand the test of time. The workshop is $50.00 per person. Registration is required.
