ALTOONA – IU8 will host eight high school teams from across the region who will showcase how they used STEM to design a device or project that is capable of “Making Our Lives Better Through STEM,” which is the theme of this year’s competition. The regional competition will take place on Tuesday, February 7 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at IU8 located at 4500 Sixth Avenue, Altoona. The winning team from IU8’s regional competition will compete at the state level at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology on May 19, 2017. Regional competitions will be held at each of the Commonwealth’s Intermediate Units (IU) during the month of February at a date and time identified by each IU. Approximately 170 teams, each representing a different high school, are expected to participate in this year’s competition.
