Description:WWII re-enactors bivouac on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum portraying field life in the European Theater of Operations, 1944-45. A small squad tactical demonstration against German opposition is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. each day. Bivouac open to the public 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Donation requested.

The exhibition will be held at the Centre Furnace Mansion and will feature the photography of Dick Brown, some of the early Arts Festival banners, artwork and posters, a timeline of the Arts Festival and stories from early coordinators of the Festival in an exhibition simply told in photographs and stories. Visitors can also add their memories to the exhibition wall! Admission is free, donations are appreciated. Nominees with lifelong service bridging literacy, technology, applied education, and cultural divides should also be inspirational leaders and role models for people of all ages. Selections for the MCL Novel Service Award will be made from community nominations. One outstanding individual and company will join last year’s starting list of distinguished humanitarians, Ritchey’s Diary and Linda K. Smith. Friends of the Library are similarly encouraged to nominate the 2016 Best Friend of the Year, someone who has given tireless service to MCL. Youth members of the library may submit essays to the award contest about why they love MCL. Submissions are due on or before September 2, 20`16. Both awardees will join the ranks of Susan K. Diethrich and Cullen Lloyd respectively honored last year. Award presentations will take place at the Taste of the Cove & Silent Auction II on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Weaver Banquet Hall at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park in Martinsburg, Pa. The auction and raffles present more opportunities to help. Retail and privately owned precious items are needed to make MCL’s auction and raffles special. Heritage Day

Description:HERITAGE DAY AT THE SENECA IROQUOIS NATIONAL MUSEUM Salamanca, NY-- Join us on Saturday June 4, 2016 from 10:00am to 6:00pm at the Seneca Iroquois National Museum for our 1st Annual Heritage Day! Heritage Day is a free educational event open to the public with activities for the whole family. Native artists will be vending and demonstrating traditional arts such as beadworking, basketmaking, pottery, stone and antler carving. Traditional foods will also be available for sampling and purchase. There will also be a Smoke Dance Competition, produced by Earth Songs Productions. This competition will have categories from Tiny Tots to Golden Age. Dancer registration is at 11:00am and the competition begins at 1:00pm. The day will also include a “Seneca History Through Fashion Show” at 4:00pm. The fashion show is a collaborative effort with Michael Galban of the Ganondagan State Historic Site and will showcase 17th and 18th century Seneca regalia/clothing. Inside the Museum will be showcasing the noted artist Robert Griffing, known for his realistic paintings of historical scenes featuring Hodinošonih people. He will have prints and paintings on display and for sale. The evening will conclude with a silent auction, to benefit future exhibits and collections care at the museum.
