Riversongs Festival

Description:Join the Penns Valley Conservation Association (PVCA) for their 6th Annual Riversongs Festival to kick off the fishing season. This festive event will include live music, craft beers and fine foods available from the Café menu, and an opportunity to support Penns Valley’s local watershed organization by making the suggested donation of $10 at the door. There will also be 50/50 raffle tickets for sale to further support the Environmental Education program offered by PVCA to the Penns Valley Area School District. Buy your tickets at the event or in advance - $10 for 1 or 3/$25. Riversongs is held at the Elk Creek Cafe in Millheim on Sunday April, 24th. Hope to see you there! PVCA will also be participating in the Great American Cleanup and will hold the annual stream bank clean-up on Saturday, April 23rd from 9am-12pm. Old House Fair

Description:The Old House Fair is a two day event that will feature internationally known authority on the economic impact of historic preservation, Donovan Rypkema, along with over a dozen state and local experts in old house restoration, historic architectural styles, period landscaping and building management. The Fair will open on the afternoon of Friday, April 29th with a workshop, Mainstreet LLC, explaining how communities can find resources for revitalization. The afternoon program will be followed by a reception and banquet culminating in a keynote by Mr. Donovan Rypkema. Friday evening’s focus will be on policy and the specific role historic preservation can play in the revitalization of downtowns, a topic of extraordinary relevance to Bellefonte. We hope to attract local leaders and potential investors to this part of our Fair. On Saturday, the Fair will offer participants their choice of sixteen different sessions offering useful information about historic landscaping, old house styles, appropriate exterior colors and historic masonry among many other topics. There will be practical and theoretical presentations, a panel discussion, two tours and individual consultations. The only problem is that their families have been bitterly feuding for so many years that they aren't even sure what they're feuding about. But true love, hillbilly style, prevails in the end when a surprising wedding takes place on top of Shaky Spears Hill. Surrounded by a collection of colorful, loveable, sassy, and eccentric relatives, Romey Odel and Julietta May say their "I do's" in a way William Shakespeare never saw coming!
