Title:Monitoring and Analyzing Your Cash Position
Description:Business Financial Management Essentials Timely, consistent, and accurate record keeping is essential to monitor business performance, prepare tax returns, and make well-informed decisions regarding a business. The Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering Business Financial Management Essentials. This series will provide business owners and managers with the skills and knowledge needed to set up an accounting system, track income and expenses, maintain financial records, understand and analyze cash flow and utilize QuickBooks™ accounting software for their businesses. Many businesses have ‘gone broke while making a profit.’ Why does this happen? Because profit doesn’t necessarily mean cash. In this workshop you will learn the difference between cash flow and profit, as well as how to: • assess and manage your cash flow • project your business’s short-term and long-term cash flow needs • analyze a cash flow statement • understand an accountant-prepared cash flow statement Cost: $40 per person. Space is limited and prior registration and prepayment are requested. Sponsored by: SPE Federal Credit Union

Patty Griffen, Sara Watkins, and Anais Mitchell
Dates:Wednesday, March 16, 2016
Title:Patty Griffen, Sara Watkins, and Anais Mitchell
Description:Patty Griffin, Sara Watkins, and Anaïs (A-nay-us) Mitchell come together in a celebration of American songwriting and performance. More than a three-act show, the concert features the artists sharing songs and accompanying each other for the entire evening. Recipient of a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Gospel Album, Griffin is recognized as an astonishing vocalist. But the American Music Association’s 2007 Artist of the Year is also a gifted songwriter. She’s created songs for artists as diverse as the Dixie Chicks and Bette Midler and written most of the material on her own impressive catalog of recordings. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Watkins, who first garnered praise for her work as a founding member of the Grammy-winning contemporary folk band Nickel Creek, has established an extraordinary solo career with acclaimed studio albums plus collaborations with John Mayer, The Decemberists, and others. She’s also a frequent guest on public radio’s A Prairie Home Companion. Mitchell’s musical style and sound have earned comparison to Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Gillian Welch. Winner of the Kerrville Festival’s New Folk Award and nominee for the Folk Alliance’s Best Contemporary Artist Award, Mitchell is known as a distinctive young voice in the resurging American folk movement. Critics laud her most recent album as “genre-defining” and her “second consecutive masterpiece.”

Dates:Thursday, March 17, 2016
Title:Sell Successfully to the World on Etsy
Description:Afraid to sell on Etsy because the jewelry or other categories are heavily saturated? Or maybe you’ve listed a few items and you can’t find your products in a search, or your product shows up on page 156? Staci has been selling jewelry on Etsy for over 7 years and, on average, more than $1000 a month. In this class she can show you simple strategies that can help you do the same! This class will guide you through the Etsy process to succeed online. We will review a shop layout, policies, basic photography, and effective tips to use Etsy’s tools and other resources. Discuss the “key phrases” that are essential for you to become relevant and found on Etsy. We will explore how to communicate to our ideal client through our branding, social media, advertising, product photography, and styling. It is possible to have success on Etsy, but it does take a lot of work, and you need to be consistent. This is an advanced seminar. Please join us! Who Should Attend? Individuals on Etsy, with basic knowledge of technology and the internet, but who are not seeing any success in sales. Cost: $40 per person. Space is limited, and prior registration and prepayment are requested.
