The Historical Society’s museum store also features books on local history and historic map reproductions. The Stocking Stuffer is CCHS’s largest fundraiser, so whether shopping for gifts for family and friends or something beautiful for yourself, the proceeds of your purchase benefit the preservation and programming efforts of the Historical Society. Gable's Book Tour Grand Finale

Description:The signing tour for the new book, THE GLORY OF GABLE'S, will have its grand finale this Saturday, December 10th, with two big stops in Altoona. Author Robert Jeschonek and his team of Gable's Greats - employees and notables featured in the book - will appear at Bradley's Discount Books in the Logan Valley Mall on Saturday from Noon to 2pm. After that, Robert and the Greats - including special guest Jamie Powers, son of former Gable's president Robert Powers - will sign books at Baker Mansion from 5-9pm. This second signing, part of the Heritage Holidays Tours sponsored by the Blair County Historical Society, will be the last scheduled Altoona area signing before Christmas. The book, a complete historyof the Gable’s department store, features over 300 pages and 600 photos. It includes information and images from local historical archives, plus eyewitness oral histories from employees, shoppers, and members of the Gable family. THE GLORY OF GABLE’S is on sale at Barnes and Noble in Logan Town Centre, Chris’ Hallmark on Pleasant Valley Boulevard, and Bradley’s Discount Books.
