Description:Children of the World in Concert FOREST, Va. – As part of its 2015-2016 U.S. tour, World Help is proud to present Children of the World International Children’s Choir. The choir, comprised of orphaned and disadvantaged children from several different countries, will be performing at the Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship on Saturday, September 12th at 6:00pm and Sunday, September 13th at 8:30am and 10:30am. The choir represents a rich and culturally diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, each with an urgent story to tell. This year’s Rescue Tour calls attention to the staggering impact that poverty, malnutrition, and dirty water have on millions of children around the world. Through the powerful medium of song, dance, spoken word, and creative media, Children of the World provides a compelling message of hope and opportunity, leaving an unforgettable impression with audiences across the country. The children have performed in such venues as Focus on the Family, Brooklyn Tabernacle, and Disney World. About World Help World Help is a faith-based humanitarian organization that exists to serve the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world. The project will include the perfect wooden holder for candy or magazines. Learn how to make this project or take one home for FREE! The workshop kit includes everything except paint/stain. Due to limited time, we will put together the pumpkin stand and then demonstrate how to cut the pumpkin shape. Description:Catalyst Quartet 7:30 pm Thursday, September 17, 2015 Esber Recital Hall The Catalyst Quartet, comprised of leading laureates and alumni of the Sphinx Competition, performs music from its debut recording, Bach/Gould Project, in its Penn State premiere performance. The program features the quartet’s arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations paired with Glenn Gould’s String Quartet. A New York Times critic describes the quartet’s Carnegie Hall debut as “invariably energetic and finely burnished.” Sponsored by Detroit’s Sphinx Organization, which is dedicated to providing opportunities in classical music for African American and Hispanic musicians, the quartet includes violinists Karla Donehew-Perez and Jessie Montgomery, violist Paul Laraia, and cellist Karlos Rodriguez. The quartet is also featured on the album Strum, a collection of string works composed by quartet member Montgomery. In addition to performing as a quartet across the United States and abroad, the musicians are also principal players with the Sphinx Virtuosi chamber orchestra. We believe ‘breaking bread’ together, dancing and providing environments to address critical issues in a nonthreatening manner is key to promoting a better way of life for all participants. RoBurrage Productions has partnered with various campus ministries of The Pennsylvania State University to present a nonalcoholic concert - featuring the internationally renowned Band Burrage - poetry, live painting, dance and spoken word.
