Description:Pennsylvania Military Museum - September 08 & 09 – “Then & NOW Living History Encampment/Bivouac” – Visit this Living History Time Line of Uniforms and Equipment from the 18th through 21st centuries on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum. Battle dress uniform show and weapons demonstrations begin at 1:00 p.m. each day. 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.

Description:The free event gives the children in our community an opportunity to build trust through positive experiences with police officers, firefighters and EMS. The event is jointly hosted by the Patton Township Police Department and the Patton Township Business Association. Kids can explore police vehicles, jump in bounce houses sponsored by HFL Hotels and Otto’s Pub, ride on an Alpha Fire Co. ladder truck, scale the climbing wall sponsored by Happy Valley Hotels, build a project at the Home Depot Kid’s Workshop, participate in the Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby race, enjoy a Lowes give-a-way, have fun with costumed characters, play on Hawbaker’s heavy equipment and so much more! Description:STAGE PERFORMANCE 101 (SP/101) WITH MULTI-GRAMMY AWARD WINNING COUNTRY PERFORMER, LINDA DAVIS! Linda is also mentor & proud Mom of daughter, Hillary Scott of supergroup, LADY ANTEBELLUM! There will be two workshops, so if you are interested in a career in music, stage performance, public speaking or pageants....this workshop includes topics on: stage movement, vocal performance, song sequencing, pageant/public speaking tips plus connecting with your audience. Linda also will be selecting 2 attendees from (2) Workshops she is conducting, to open her local concert at the Mountain Playhouse on September 9th at 4:00 p.m. Registration is booming, only a few seats left! Description:From the Beatles to Beyonce, Home Nursing Agency Decades Club presents Dancing Thru the Decades. Dancing Thru the Decades will be held on Sat., Sept. 8 from 7-10 p.m. at the Jaffa Shrine, Altoona. All proceeds benefit the Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch children’s grief program, which offers free services for grieving children and their families. Tickets are $10 each with a cash bar. Attendees will enjoy five decades of America’s greatest hits with DJ The Xman. The Pitt vs. Penn State game will be airing on the big screen, and Raffle Baskets and Silent Auction items will be available throughout the evening, compliments of the generous support of various local individuals and businesses. In addition to the Evening of Dancing Thru the Decades, a Reverse Raffle Drawing ticket option is also being offered. The $100 Reverse Raffle Ticket includes one chance in the raffle for cash prizes, dinner and drinks for two, and the Evening of Dancing Thru Decades. The Reverse Raffle Drawing/dinner will be held from 5-7 p.m. Local DJ Tommy Edwards will serve as emcee for the Reverse Raffle Drawing. Tickets for the Evening of Dancing Thru the Decades will also be sold at the door until 8 p.m. The evening will be casual dress, and attendees can optionally dress in their favorite decade. Attendees must be 21 years of age and must present identification upon request. The Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch is a peer support program designed specifically for children and their families who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The Healing Patch provides free services through local family groups, in-school peer support groups, community education and a variety of grief resources. Staffed by community volunteers and funded by donations and fundraising events, the Healing Patch provides local families with support to discover they are not alone in their grief and that hope and healing are possible.
