Title:Johnstown Walk to Defeat ALS
Description:The annual Johnstown Walk to Defeat ALS is a day for patients, families, caregivers, and community supports to come together to raise funds and awareness for ALS. All proceeds support The ALS Association Western PA Chapter and the vital services they provide free of charge to more than 300 patients in Western PA. This year's event is on track to break records with attendance and fundraising, raising more than $80,000. Donna Boring, featured in National ALS awareness campaign, will receive special aware from local chapter at the walk.

People of Action Celebration

Title:People of Action Celebration
Description:Rotary Club’s annual People of Action Celebration that will take place on Saturday, July 28, 2018. The event, a collaboration of the five local rotary clubs, is the highlight of the year for the local Rotary Clubs as they distribute funds to non-profit organizations in the local community. With over $33,000 raised through various fundraising activities, the local clubs will jointly celebrate the efforts of the five local Rotary Clubs; State College Sunrise, State College Downtown, State College Evening, Bellefonte Rotary and Pleasant Gap Rotary. To reinforce Rotary’s commitment to community service, attendees will assemble 100 Jared Boxes – storage boxes filled with gifts, toys, games, and activities for children in hospitals. The event is open to the public. Rotary exchange students, Rotary club high school students, Rotary club college students, and other Rotary-affiliated youth will also be in attendance. The event will be held at Holmes-Foster Park in State College (600 S. Sparks Street) and will run from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM. Taproot Kitchen, a recipient of Rotary grand funds over the past year, will be catering light appetizers, in addition to a BBQ and snacks.
