2017 Child Abuse Prevention Month
Dates:Tuesday, April 04, 2017
Title:2017 Child Abuse Prevention Month
Description:April Is National Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month A special Flag Raising Ceremony will be held at the Blair County Law Enforcement Memorial, Blair County Courthouse, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 12:00 PM (Noon) to recognize April as National Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month. The Children’s Memorial Flag will be raised and flown during the month of April to increase the awareness of child abuse in our community. This Flag Raising Ceremony will also be the kickoff for Prevent Child Abuse America’s “Pinwheels for Prevention” Campaign. Blue and silver pinwheels will be “planted” in the garden in front of the Blair County Courthouse to serve as a reminder that everyone plays a part in protecting the smallest citizens of Blair County. The pinwheel is a symbol for the happy and carefree childhood that each child should have the opportunity to experience. A brief ceremony featuring children from the community and local speakers will follow the flag raising. This month and throughout the year, Blair County Children, Youth & Families encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making Blair County a better place for families. By ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening families and communities. Please plan to join us in this very important event and show your support for the prevention of child abuse. Together we all can play a part in preventing child maltreatment and promoting well-being.
