Women battling breast cancer and their families are profoundly affected by this disease and deal with many stressors. Among them are financial stressors. Costs associated with breast cancer care and recovery are numerous and significant. There are costs for direct medical care, transportation costs associated with cancer treatments, expenses for medical supplies and other items such as wigs and prosthetic bras. Women who are underinsured or who do not have health insurance often find themselves with mounting expenses intensifying an already stressful experience. Additionally, the process of cancer treatment and recovery is typically lengthy keeping working women away from their jobs which can significantly reduce a family’s income. Celebration of Smiles
Dates:Saturday, April 09, 2016
Title:Celebration of Smiles
Description:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER HOLDS ANNUAL “CELEBRATION OF SMILES DAY” PROMOTION TO BENEFIT PPA CHARITIES/OPERATION SMILE Ebensburg, PA -On April 9th, 2016 from 1-4pm,  local photographer Claire Houser of Claire Terese Photography will join with PPA Charities (the philanthropic arm of the Professional Photographers of America) to promote “Celebration of Smiles Day.” This national fundraising event will benefit Operation Smile, which treats children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities. On April 9th from 1pm to 4pm Claire Terese Photography will offer the gift of an individual portrait mini session and a 5x7 portrait in exchange for a minimum $24 donation to Operation Smile. This donation represents one tenth of the $240 needed to help fund a single cleft palate surgery. “Celebration of Smiles Day is the perfect opportunity to have your portrait taken or that of a loved one, because in doing so you are making it possible to truly change the lives of children who would otherwise face a lifetime of pain and rejection.” Said Michigan based photographer and President of Professional Photographers of America, Michael Timmons. Founded in 1982, Operation Smile is a worldwide children’s medical charity dedicated to helping children and young adults born with facial deformities. In as little as 45 minutes, one cleft lip surgery can change a child’s life forever. Every three minutes a child somewhere in the world is born with a facial deformity. One in ten will not survive to see their first birthday. Those who do survive often live in isolation and pain. Each year, more than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity in Operation Smile’s 26 partner countries. Tens of thousands remain untreated. Claire Houser, Owner of Claire Terese Photography has received numerous awards and has been honored nationally for her work with PPA Charities. This will be Claire’s fourth year of participation in this celebration. "Walk ins" for a brief photo session with all proceeds benefiting Operation Smiles are welcome on this day from 1-4pm.  “It’s a great cause that benefits something I’m passionate about, smiles. It’s a fun day, a whirlwind four hours of capturing great smiles.” Claire also hopes that area business’s will partner with her in the PPA Charities Matching Event. “It’s a great “gift in kind” opportunity for business’ wishing to provide a photo session for their employees. It’s an event that everyone can get involved with and positively affect the lives of children throughout our community and world.” Celebration of Smiles event will take place at Claire Terese Photography, 109 S. Center Street, Ebensburg, PA 15931, Saturday, April 9th from 1pm-4pm.  For more details and questions contact Claire.
