Centre County PAWS and CPA Animal Item Drive

Title:Centre County PAWS and CPA Animal Item Drive
Description:In conjunction with the upcoming performance of Clifford The Big Red Dog Live! the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State has teamed up with Centre County PAWS to collect new and gently used items to help cats and dogs in need. You can drop off recommended donations in the Eisenhower Auditorium lobby during business hours, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 16. Donations are also accepted during any of the following performances: Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis on October 7, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain on October 13, or Clifford the Big Red Dog Live! on October 18. Description:Alfredo Rodríguez Trio 7:30 pm Thursday, September 24, 2015 The State Theatre Cuban-born pianist Alfredo Rodríguez, educated in the classical conservatories of Havana, is influenced as much by Johann Sebastian Bach and Igor Stravinsky as he is by Thelonious Monk, Art Tatum, and Keith Jarrett. Producer Quincy Jones, who first heard Rodríguez perform at the 2006 Montreux Jazz Festival, has mentored the pianist, who moved to the United States in 2009, on his career path. On The Invasion Parade, the follow-up to his debut album Sounds of Space, Rodríguez delves into his memories of the people and the culture he left in Cuba. The track “Guantanamera” garnered Rodríguez, who fronts a trio in his Penn State premiere, a 2015 Grammy nomination for best instrumental arrangement.
