The Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering Business Financial Management Essentials. This series will provide business owners and managers with the skills and knowledge needed to set up an accounting system, track income and expenses, maintain financial records, understand and analyze cash flow and utilize QuickBooks™ accounting software for their businesses. Learn how to: • do month end procedures • determine which reports should be printed and viewed and saved for future reference • get a checklist of what to look for in the reports • modify your reports for more meaningful information • set budgets and business plans • adjusting the preferences in QuickBooks for little nuances • sales tax and 1099 set-up and issues

Description:Learn how to make a Rustic Pumpkin Stand at The Ladies Night Fall Festival at The Home Depot located at 2615 Green Tech Drive in State College, PA! The Pumpkin Stand makes the perfect project for the fall. Let us give you step by step lessons on how to build the perfect fall decoration for any porch. The project will include the perfect wooden holder for candy or magazines. Learn how to make this project or take one home for FREE! The workshop kit includes everything except paint/stain. Due to limited time, we will put together the pumpkin stand and then demonstrate how to cut the pumpkin shape. Be sure to register online for the workshop by September 14 to ensure September 17 availability of materials. In addition there will be refreshments served and giveaways at the event.

Description:Catalyst Quartet 7:30 pm Thursday, September 17, 2015 Esber Recital Hall The Catalyst Quartet, comprised of leading laureates and alumni of the Sphinx Competition, performs music from its debut recording, Bach/Gould Project, in its Penn State premiere performance. The program features the quartet’s arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations paired with Glenn Gould’s String Quartet. A New York Times critic describes the quartet’s Carnegie Hall debut as “invariably energetic and finely burnished.” Sponsored by Detroit’s Sphinx Organization, which is dedicated to providing opportunities in classical music for African American and Hispanic musicians, the quartet includes violinists Karla Donehew-Perez and Jessie Montgomery, violist Paul Laraia, and cellist Karlos Rodriguez. The quartet is also featured on the album Strum, a collection of string works composed by quartet member Montgomery. In addition to performing as a quartet across the United States and abroad, the musicians are also principal players with the Sphinx Virtuosi chamber orchestra.
