GEW is an international entrepreneurship event that takes place every year during the third week of November. Global Entrepreneurship Week embraces Penn State’s year around celebration of entrepreneurship. Attend one Penn State’s GEW events and you become part of an international entrepreneurship celebration with 150 countries, 24,000 partners and 34,000 events. Veterans have the character, discipline, and skills needed to succeed as small-business owners and entrepreneurs. Wondering how you can best prepare to be a success? Step 1 is our free Introduction to Entrepreneurship one-day bootcamp. Learn about: • the military skills you should tap into to be a business success • the different types of business models and what might suit your strengths and risk tolerance • how to craft a business idea and plan • legal and financial considerations and resources • the experiences of other military servicemen and women who have made it their business to start their own business This all-day event is open to active and retired military servicemen and women and their partners, including members of the National Guard and Reserve. Whether you’re considering starting a business, already in the process, or looking for new resources to strengthen an existing company, you’ll benefit from the day. The training will be presented by professors and practitioners from Penn State World Campus, the Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and Small Business Administration (SBA), informed by veterans’ experiences and needs. Step 2 is a free, one-on-one confidential consulting with a Penn State SBDC veteran’s small business consultant. Additionally, Penn State World Campus will be creating an eight week course in entrepreneurship for those interested in in-depth skills and techniques. Cost: Free Pre-registration is required.
