The Richland Rams boys basketball team is no longer in contention for the LHAC championship following a PIAA rule violation in Wednesday night's game causing the team to forfeit, the school announced. According to a post on Richland High School's Facebook, the Rams used an ineligible coach during their game against Westmont Wednesday. The school said the violation was due to a misinterpretation of PIAA rules. The forfeiture moved the Rams into fifth place in the LHAC rankings and out of contention for the championship. Richland's scheduled game against Bishop Guilfoyle Thursday night has been canceled. School officials say the forfeiture does not affect the team's participation in the PIAA District 6 Tournament. The Rams are scheduled to host Mount Union in the PIAA District 6 Quarterfinal Round Feb. 21 at Richland High School.
