An update now on the continuing review of mental health services in Centre County. Is specially named task force is just getting started. They're telling us what they're hoping to do . Since the police involved shooting of a mentally challenged person this summer, the issue continues to reverberate throughout the community. Several new developments in the past few days along. At a Penn State art gallery a special presentation speeches and artwork tied to the life of Osaze Osagie , the man shot and killed by police back in march. Elsewhere, a task force of mental health experts setting the agenda for future priorities. "They are undertaking a mapping process to really understand how the crisis system works here in Centre County. Once they have that mapping finished, they will be moving toward looking at what is working and what might need to be addressed further." Also opening soon in this building in college township, the first of its kind in Centre County, a walk in community center for those who said they wanted somebody to talk to about until health concerns. From here, they may be referred to dr. Or some other specialist. "Staff have been hired. They are currently starting their training that is required by the state to meet the licensing. Training started last week. I believe this week sets of employees have started to train" the county wide task force is expected to present their findings by next summer. The walk in crisis center is scheduled to be open sometime after the first of the year.
