Hurricane Dorian is drawing a lot of attention along the East Coast, but here in Pennsylvania, there are ongoing problems in areas known as floodplains with high water and other similar situations due to storms. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency says it is keeping a close eye on the hurricane. The director of PEMA says the agency has already been contacted about providing mutual aid in the efforts. In our state, low-lying areas have been hit hard by heavy storms and a large amount of rain. PEMA officials say they want to increase disaster relief funds for those communities where rebuilding can be slowed due to limited local revenue. Officials say another wish is to have money for a floodwall to be built along Bellefonte Spring Creek. PEMA says flooding is the No. 1 threat in the state and it is becoming more extreme every year.
