A Johnstown man is facing felony kidnapping charges after police say he tried to lure four children away from a home on Chandler Avenue on Friday. According to a criminal complaint, a caller reported that her three children and her 16-year-old niece were playing outside in front of the home when 25-year-old Avery Wood approached them and tried to get them to walk away with him. Wood walked up to the children and "asked if they wanted to leave with him and walk to the playground," the complaint says. It says one of the kids ran inside to tell the adults in the home what had happened. When confronted by one of them, Wood said, "If you don't want them, I'll take them," according to the complaint. Police officers said that, after they caught up with Wood, he admitted that he had asked the children to go to the playground with him and told the mother that he'd take them. Police said Wood tried to walk away several times as officers questioned him. Wood faces four counts of kidnapping, four counts of recklessly endangering another person and two counts of resisting arrest. He's now being lodged in the Cambria County Prison on $100,000 bail.
