Charges have been filed against an inmate who held a corrections officer hostage during an attempt to escape from the Clearfield County Jail, according to a criminal complaint. Police said 42-year-old John Moore is facing a slew of charges including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and criminal attempted escape. On July 22, police were called to the jail for a psychological emergency involving an inmate with a knife who was threatening to kill staff and himself. According to the complaint, when officers arrived at the scene, they found Moore covered in blood after having attempted to take his own life. Police said Moore ignored commands and was still trying to escape the prison, and officers had to eventually use a Taser on Moore to take him into custody.
