A nearly $1 million federal grant has been awarded to Jackson Township, Cambria County, for the construction of a new road. The Appalachian Regional Commission awarded $980,000 toward the design and construction of an access road for the development of a business park. According to U.S. Rep. G.T. Thompson, the 65-acre park will be suitable for mixed-use facilities, bringing businesses and jobs to the area. "The Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission regularly works with municipalities and other stakeholders on ARC access road and area development projects," said Transportation Program Manager Brandon Peters, MPA. "This project is exceptional because investment from ARC, the Pennsylvania Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program, and Jackson Township are being partnered to deliver this development opportunity. Two hundred family-sustaining jobs are expected to be created over three years. The development and job creation potential would not be possible without ARC's investment in the access road and in our region." The business park will be located near Route 22 and Chickaree Road.
