Police said a head-on crash that killed a Bellefonte man was caused by a speeding driver. State College police said 20-year-old Nailah Oliver was driving westbound on Route 322 in September when she lost control of her car and crossed over into the eastbound lanes. Police said she struck a car driven by 47-year-old Robert Bloom. Bloom's car was then forced to the right where it hit by a crane truck, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Oliver and Bloom's 15-year-old passenger were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Oliver's speed was determined to have directly caused her to lose control of her car and strike Bloom, according to a news release issued Wednesday afternoon. Court documents show Oliver faces several reckless driving-related charges, as well as involuntary manslaughter and homicide by vehicle. Authorities said she was not taken into police custody but was given an unsecured bail of $25,000. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for the end of February.
