Huntingdon County will receive a $1 million state grant to help replace its 40 year old year old public radio system. The grant will go towards the $6.5 million project. "Effective communication in emergency situations can be a matter of life and death," Sen. Jake Corman said. 'This project updates an antiquated system and allows all emergency responders to be on the same band widthbandwidth and permits secure transmissions for police for additional safety." The project will replace the entire public radio system with new equipment, add four remote sites to allow for complete countywide coverage and updatesupdate the existing radio sites. Corman said this will enhance communications between fire, police and EMS, and is expected to be operational by the fall.
