Deadly Turnpike Accident

One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Tuesday night. Dispatch said it happened around 11 p.m. between the Somerset and Donegal exits near mile marker 102 eastbound. Dispatch said the crash involved multiple vehicles including a tractor-trailer. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to nearby hospitals for their injuries. Penndot website said there is a detour in place but the eastbound lanes are open to local traffic at Somerset ad Bedford Interchanges. It was the second crash at the same location Tuesday. At 4 p.m., another crash involved up to eight vehicles. Dispatch said three people were injured. One person had to be flown by helicopter to the hospital for injuries. Multiple people were taken to the hospital after a two vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Somerset County. Somerset County dispatch said six ambulances were at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 8:54 a.m. at the intersection of Neilan Road and Glades Pike. Officials said a tow truck was towing a car back to Herring Motors when it hit the passenger side of an SUV, resulting in entrapment. Officials at the scene said two children and a mother were taken to the hospital. There was no condition update available.
