Richland School District forced to cancel
classes Monday because of a
power outage at the elementary
school.
The school superintendent tells
us when maintenance crews
arrived at the schools they
realized generators were
running.
There was a problem with an
underground power box.
School officials were told it
would take up to 6 hours to fix
although generators were running
officials decided it would be best to
cancel school.
"That allows us to circulate
the heat in the building, it
doesn't allow us to keep the
fans and univents on to keep the classrooms
warm. Even though it was at the Elementary
School, The high school students help
out with younger siblings and
watch them while parents are
working so we just made a descision
to cancel classes today."
