Speaker of House of Representatives Mike Turzai made a visit to Dubois Thursday. He met with local representatives and community members about why he is running for Governor. He says his main focuses are private sector job creation, family sustaining jobs and moving Pennsylvania from defense to offense against high taxes. He was part of the effort to get eight bills concerning the opioid epidemic on to Governor Wolfs desk and signed into law. "We focused on treatment, what can we do to get people off of it. We focused on prohibitions. We limited the amount of opioids that could be given out in emergency rooms or by certain doctors. And in addition, we talked about how you dispose of opioids that are not being used." Also running are York County, state Sen. Scott Wagner and two first time candidates from the Pittsburgh area lawyer Laura Ellsworth and former health care systems consultant Paul Mango.
