Fire crews from four counties responded to a house fire Monday afternoon in Clearfield County. The fire broke out at a home on Covered Bridge Road in Mahaffey around 1 p.m. According to Mahaffey Fire Chief Brian Sheeder, one person lived in the home. He said when crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed. He said stacked lumber in the area and a lack of water supply in the immediate area made the blaze harder to extinguish. Sheeder said cars, farm equipment and lumber were lost in the fire. Crews are still on the scene putting out flames that are smoldering in the wood piles. A state police fire marshal has been called to investigate.
