Three homicide arrests in Blair County, four years in the making made Today on the anniversary of the crime. Altoona police arrested three people for the death of Steven Hackney. He was found shot to death inside of a Walnut Street home back in 2013. The D.A. Office said it was technology and forensics that gave them the break in the case. Kashif Ellis, Taylor Griffith and Qasim Green all three charged with homicide. Griffith and Ellis also have drug charges. "Proactively investigate drug traffickers and make it uncomfortable for them to be here, try to take them off the streets as much as possible. We believe we can avoid more instances of violence like this." The District Attorney's office said this resulted from drug dealing, a man dead, and a community at risk. They call drug trafficking inherently violent. The four-year-old cold case is far from over as court proceedings are just now beginning. The shooting happened again back in 2013 at a house along the 100 block of Walnut Avenue. Police say Hackney, a D.C. Native was found shot to death inside of the upstairs bedroom. This wasn't the first time that he was in our news. Back in 2005, police say that he was involved in another shooting that injured a person and caused a lockdown at an Altoona Elementary School. He was on the run for four Years until he was found in Erie by the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force. According to online court documents he eventually pled guilty to lesser charges.
