Indian Lake Closed

A popular Somerset County Lake that's home away from home for many across the region is still closed to any recreational activities and may not reopen for several weeks. That's because the water is much to low. The problem at Indian Lake wasn't accidental it was intentional as part of a renovation project at the lake's dam. When Indian Lake Borough Authorities checked the water level Tuesday morning it was a little more than 4 feet from where it should be. A clear sign as you drive along the banks especially towards the North end of the lake. It comes nearly a month after officials opened the lake valve to lower the water ten feet as part of a project mandated by DEP to update and renovate the dam. The lake is currently closed to all recreational sports. Officials hope the storms predicted over the next couple of days will bring the needed rain so the Marina can be reopened. Hopefully by the beginning of next month.
