Afghanistan 12 Years Later

Twelve years after the invasion sparked by the 9/11 terror attacks.  The Afghan economy is showing signs of improvement but violence remains a big problem.  The United States launched military operations in Afghanistan in October 2001 in response to the 9/11 attacks to target Al Qaeda, which was based in the country and supported by the Afghan Taliban.  Still today violence remains a daily part of life in Afghanistan but there are signs of improvement.  A wealthy district just outside Kandahar City was once desert land.  Now there are high rises, trees and waterfalls.  The land was heavily invested in be Afghan President Hamid Karzai's brother Mahmood.
