The rise in the cost of a natural gas pipeline project in State College is another issue trustees are talking about.  The University will see an additional nine point six million dollars in costs to have Columbia Gas run the pipeline around campus instead of it running through a residential area.  The locals in the Highlands neighborhood voiced their concerns about the safely of the pipeline at various meetings.  The purpose of the project is to transition from coal to natural gas at a steam plant.
